Katie Tomer

Make Shift Coordinator

As a former English teacher in Thailand, professional ballet dancer, and Community Health intern for the City of Portland Public Health, Katie has a broad range of skills and work experiences. She has facilitated healing circles with over sixty inmates for the past three years with Maine-Wabanaki REACH and continues to work with marginalized populations.

As a result of her work with the International Association for Human Values, Katie has led workshops and given guest lecture presentations on the benefits of using stress management techniques such as yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. She is a member of the Development Committee for Sea Change Yoga in Portland and has begun grant writing on their behalf.

Katie has a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, with a focus in Community Health Education. She is pursuing her master’s degree in Policy, Planning, and Management from the University of Southern Maine in Portland and is particularly interested in sustainable development, public health efforts, as well as working with vulnerable populations.

Katie joined Make Shift Coffee House and Good Group Decisions in 2018 where she assists with outreach along with administrative and marketing tasks.
