Acadia Center (2015)
The Acadia Center develops innovative policies to combat global warming and promote clean energy and clean air solutions. As in the past, we were hired to plan and facilitate a multi-day staff and board retreat in Jamestown, Rhode Island.

Acadia Insurance specializes in commercial property casualty insurance programs for small and midsize businesses throughout New England and New York State. Acadia hired us to facilitate a professional development training session focused on key elements of a learning organization.
Agawam Council (Camp Agawam) (2014-2015)
Camp Agawam, located on Crescent Lake in Raymond, Maine, is a traditional seven-week summer camp for boys, founded in 1919. We helped plan and facilitate a strategic planning process for the Agawam Council Board of Directors, which governs the camp.
Bates College – Gulf of Maine Field Research Stations (2015)
Bates College, in collaboration with the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership, has received a National Science Foundation grant to coordinate the efforts of Field Research Stations around the Gulf of Maine. At an overnight meeting on Hurricane Island in Penobscot Bay, we helped the group prioritize research needs and coordinate their efforts.
Bates College Athletic Department (2015)
Bates is a liberal arts college in Lewiston, Maine. The college’s Department of Athletics and Physical Education provides gender-equitable athletic opportunities that enhance the overall liberal arts undergraduate experience. We were hired to facilitate a retreat among Department staff to identify core program strengths and develop a vision for athletic programming’s contribution to the college over the next 5 – 10 years.
Brunswick School Department (2015)
The Brunswick, Maine School Department hired us to facilitate a series of community input meetings and prepare a draft strategic plan to help chart the future of the Brunswick schools.
Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust (2015)
The Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust protects 1,100 acres of properties with ecological, agricultural and aesthetic importance in Brunswick and Topsham. The Trust also is a convener of the Merrymeeting Food Council, a collaborative network of farmers, non-profits, businesses, government, and individuals working to advance a thriving, resilient food system. We were hired to facilitate a meeting to help refine goals and action plans for the newly-formed food council. We also prepared a complete report of the meeting.
Casco Bay Estuary Partnership (2014-2015)
The Casco Bay Estuary Partnership (CBEP) is a collaborative effort of people and organizations interested in protecting and restoring Casco Bay, off the southern coast of Maine. In 2014-2015, we helped plan and facilitate a series of CBEP committee and working group meetings to discuss and finalize a scope of work and timetable for strategic planning and then to work through the strategic planning process itself in preparation for the State of the Bay Conference in late 2015. During the conference we also facilitated a stakeholder input session to gather reactions and suggestions about the 2015-16 Casco Bay Plan. As a result of this work CBEP prepared a comprehensive five-year Casco Bay Plan with goals, strategies, and actions.
Casco Bay Lines (2015)
Casco Bay Island Transit District (CBITD, also known as Casco Bay Lines) operates year-round passenger, vehicle, and freight service to six Casco Bay islands. We were hired to facilitate a strategic planning meeting among the members of the CBITD Board. In advance of the meeting we conducted interviews with stakeholders and prepared a report of findings. We also facilitated an additional follow-up meeting to further discuss the emerging conclusions from the retreat.
Chalmers Insurance Group (2015)
The Chalmers Group is a family-owned group of insurance companies in western and southern Maine and in New Hampshire; leadership now includes the fourth generation of the Chalmers family. As in the past, we were hired to facilitate a one-day retreat for the leadership team to review and update their insurance services strategies and plans. We also prepared a Complete Report of the retreat.
CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) (2015)
For the ninth year in a row, CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) hired us to facilitate a multi-day retreat among regional directors from all over the country. In these retreats we find a beautiful Maine location and work through issues that have come up, make important decisions about the future, and have fun doing creative team-building exercises.
Consumer Council System of Maine (2015)
The Consumer Council System of Maine is mandated by the State Legislature to represent consumers of mental and behavioral health services. We were hired to facilitate a strategic planning retreat and prepare a complete report.
Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District (2015)
Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District is a non-regulatory public resource helping solve the challenges of soil and water pollution, land development, wildlife habitat and flood mitigation. The District’s biennial Maine Stormwater Conference brings together municipal, state, and federal employees; engineers; planners; academics; and other professionals to learn about and discuss stormwater management. At the 2015 conference, we facilitated a roundtable discussion among municipal managers and others about innovative stormwater management approaches. We also prepared a report of the session.
Dragon Cement (2010-2019)
This Thomaston, Maine producer of cement products retains us to facilitate a community advisory panel. The group meets quarterly and serves as a forum for learning and dialogue between plant managers and community leaders.
DuPont (formerly FMC) manufactures carrageenan in Rockland, Maine. As part of its Responsible Care initiative, the company retains us to facilitate a community advisory panel. The group meets every two months and serves as a forum for learning and dialogue between plant managers and community leaders.
Eastern Maine Development Corporation (2015)
Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC) provides technical assistance, access to capital, community planning, and other economic development services. We were hired to facilitate and document a series of roundtable discussions of industry stakeholders in eastern Maine. Information gathered from the discussions will help EMDC develop a plan for using regional assets to build economic growth and stability.
Elder Abuse Institute of Maine (2013-2015)
Founded in 1995, the nonprofit Elder Abuse Institute of Maine promotes the awareness and prevention of elder abuse through training, collaboration, outreach and advocacy. The Institute also offers transitional housing options and supportive services for elder victims. We were hired to facilitate a series of meetings among members of the board to plan for the future of the Institute’s housing and support programs. In addition to facilitation, our services included arranging meeting space, sending out meeting announcements, preparing notes of each meeting, and maintaining the participant contact list.
Emera Maine (2015)
Emera Maine is a regulated electric transmission and distribution utility (formerly known as Bangor Hydro and Maine Public Service) serving northern and eastern Maine. As in the past, we were hired to facilitate a multi-day retreat among company leaders to discuss strategic initiatives. We also prepared a complete report of the retreat.
Falmouth Town Council (2015)
For the fourth year in a row Craig was hired to plan and facilitate the annual retreat of the Falmouth Town Council. Falmouth is a coastal Maine community of about 11,000 people.
Freeport Housing Trust (2015)
Freeport Housing Trust, Inc. is a community-based charitable organization that provides over 200 safe and affordable housing units for lower and moderate-income households of Freeport, Maine. We were hired to facilitate a future visioning retreat among the Board of Directors.
Friends of the York River (2015)
The York River flows through rolling hills and tidal marshes in York, Kittery, South Berwick and Eliot, Maine. The nonprofit group Friends of the York River is exploring the possibility of a “wild and scenic” National Park Service designation for the river. We were hired to help design and facilitate a group process to move this exploration forward.
Fryeburg Academy (2014-2015)
Founded in 1792, Fryeburg Academy is a private college preparatory school in western Maine serving local and international students. We were hired to help plan and facilitate a strategic planning process. As part of the process we gathered stakeholder input and facilitated a series of committee meetings.
Gardiner, City of (2015)
The historic river city of Gardiner, Maine, hosted an event to train, celebrate, and thank its volunteer members of Boards, Committees, and Commissions. Craig delivered a keynote on the benefits of effective meetings and collaborative leadership.
Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) (2014-2016)
The Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) is a nonprofit organization that assists with cooperative services such as bulk purchasing, transportation planning, data, mapping, and economic and community development. GPCOG’s members include 26 municipalities from Casco Bay to western Cumberland County, along with the County itself and other affiliate organizations. We were hired to help gather stakeholder input and facilitate a series of meetings to develop a five-year strategic plan for GPCOG.
International Policy Governance Association (2015)
The International Policy Governance Association (IPGA) is a worldwide nonprofit organization promoting owner-accountable effective governance practices. Craig delivered a keynote and an interactive workshop at “Leading Together,” IPGA’s 12th annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Kennebec Behavioral Health (2014-2015)
Kennebec Behavioral Health (KBH) offers a wide range of outpatient and medication services to promote the well-being of children, adults, and families who experience mental illness, emotional difficulties or behavioral challenges. We were hired to facilitate quarterly meetings of the organization’s Planning Team to discuss and make plans for strategic initiatives.
Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. (2015)
Kieve-Wavus offers summer camps on the shores of beautiful Damariscotta Lake in Nobleboro and year-round experiential programs for youth and adults in Maine and beyond. We were hired to facilitate a meeting to discuss the future of Kieve-Wavus educational programs such as The Leadership School. We also prepared a complete report of the meeting.
Maine Academy of Family Physicians (2015)
The Maine Academy of Family Physicians represents over 700 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students in Maine. The Academy advocates for the specialty of Family Medicine, and enhances communication among and provides information to Maine family physicians. We were hired to facilitate a multi-day strategic planning retreat to help the Academy plan for the future.
Maine Bar Foundation (2015)
The Maine Bar Foundation is committed to equal justice for all and supports Maine’s low-income legal aid providers and pro bono initiatives throughout the state. We were hired by the Foundation to plan, facilitate, and document a gathering of Maine philanthropists and legal aid providers called “Investing in and Advocating for Access to Justice for Poor and Vulnerable Mainers”.
Maine Coast Sea Vegetables (2013-2019)
Located on the beautiful Downeast coast, Maine Coast Sea Vegetables harvests, dries, and sells about 100,000 pounds of certified organic sea vegetables annually. We were hired by this socially and environmentally conscious company to facilitate a series of long-range planning meetings among senior staff. We also facilitated all-staff meetings to discuss company changes and provided coaching and related services to leadership staff.
Maine Coast Waldorf School (2015)
Located in Freeport and New Gloucester, the Maine Coast Waldorf School (formerly known as Merriconeag) is Maine’s largest Waldorf school, offering pre-K through high school education to almost 300 students. We were hired to facilitate an evening of discussion among parents and teachers of fifth grade students.
Maine College of Art (2015)
Located in downtown Portland, the Maine College of Art educates artists for life. We were hired to plan and facilitate a two-day retreat of members of the College’s Board of Trustees and Senior Staff. We also prepared a complete report.
Maine College of Art – Zero-Based Planning (2015)
Located in downtown Portland, the Maine College of Art educates artists for life. We were hired to facilitate a “zero-based planning” session among members of the College’s Board of Trustees and Senior Staff, to help creatively design the ideal art college to meet the needs of future artists.
Maine Council for Elder Abuse Protection (2015)
The Maine Council for Elder Abuse Prevention (MCEAP) is comprised of over 40 organizations and individuals from across Maine working collaboratively to combat elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We were hired to facilitate and provide a report of a strategic planning session for the Council.
Maine Farmland Trust (2015)
The Maine Farmland Trust (MFT) is a statewide organization working to protect farmland, support farmers, and advance farming. Craig was hired to facilitate a participatory visioning session at a MFT farmland access conference, in which participants shared ideas for positive solutions to help farmers access land.
Maine Food Strategy Network Gathering (2015)
The Maine Food Strategy is an initiative to create a broader and more strongly connected network of organizations and individuals contributing to the food system in Maine. We have been hired to help plan and facilitate a large network gathering to work on the initiative’s goal areas: economic development, environment, food access, and community support. We helped plan and facilitate the overall gathering and the breakout sessions. We also provided a complete report of the entire gathering.
Maine Health Data Organization (MHDO) Board (2015)
The Maine Health Data Organization (MHDO) is a state agency that collects health care data for the purpose of research, policy development, and health care improvements. We were hired to help plan and facilitate a retreat of MHDO Board members to reflect on the past year and plan for the future.
Maine Health Data Organization (MHDO) Consumer Advisory Group (2014-2015)
Working with the Human Services Research Institute, we facilitated, administered and documented bi-monthly meetings of the MHDO Consumer Advisory Group, whose purpose is to provide input and guidance to the Maine Health Data Organization (MHDO). The MHDO is a state agency that collects health care data for the purpose of research, policy development, and health care improvements. The Human Services Research Institute is building and operating a data warehouse and public website to help the MHDO provide clear information on health care costs and quality in Maine.
Maine Lakes Resource Center (2015)
Located in Belgrade, the Maine Lakes Resource Center provides capacity-building resources to local and regional conservation groups. We were hired to facilitate a series of meetings between the Resources Center and lake conservation groups in the Belgrade Lakes region, to discuss opportunities for collaboration.
Maine Migrant Health Program (2014-2015)
The Maine Migrant Health Program brings health services to farmworkers across the state, such as primary care mobile medical units, outreach, case management, interpretation, health education, and referral vouchers. We were hired to plan and facilitate a strategic planning retreat and prepare a draft strategic plan with measurable objectives, a timeline, and specific responsibilities for specific steps.
Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) (2015-2016)
Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) is the oldest and largest state organic organization in the country. We were hired to help facilitate a multiphase strategic planning process. We began with a series of meetings, conversations, and surveys among stakeholder groups, board members, and staff members to help refine the organization’s values, vision and mission. In the next phase we facilitated a series of meetings to help define organizational goals and objectives.
Maine State Legislature and Maine State Employees Union (2015)
We were hired to facilitate a series of interest-based bargaining meetings among the nonpartisan staff members for the Maine State Legislature and the leadership of the Maine State Employees Union. Interest-based bargaining focuses on developing mutually beneficial agreements based on the interests of the participants.
National Speakers Association (2015)
Each year the National Speakers Association hosts a large convention for professional speakers. The 2015 conference took place in Washington, DC, and Craig offered a workshop on practical tips for audience interaction, participation, and collaboration: how to gather and summarize audience input, how to manage the microphone, and much more. NatureBridge provides experiential field science programs in our national parks and works to make environmental education a national priority. NatureBridge also convenes the National Park Education Partners, a group working to ensure that students can experience national parks as places of learning. We facilitated and documented a series of conference calls among the interim steering committee for the Partners.
Quality Counts Consumer Advisory Council (2014-2015)
Maine Quality Counts is an independent health care collaborative committed to improving health and health care for the people of Maine by leading, collaborating, and aligning improvement efforts. Members of the Quality Counts Consumer Advisory Council provide input and guidance to ensure that Quality Counts programs and initiatives appropriately reflect the consumer/patient perspective. We were hired to plan, facilitate, and document a series of regular meetings of the Consumer Advisory Council.
Regional School Unit (RSU) 13 (2015)
RSU 13 serves approximately 2100 students from the municipalities of Cushing, Owls Head, Rockland, Saint George, South Thomaston, and Thomaston, Maine. We were hired to facilitate a meeting of the School Board to discuss plans for the future.
Richmond – Future Land Use Visioning (2015)
Town leaders in the historic town of Richmond, Maine, on the banks of the Kennebec River, wanted to gather public input before updating the town’s comprehensive plan. We were hired to facilitate and document two input meetings to hear public opinion on future land use in Richmond.
Rippleffect promotes youth development and leadership and connects students to the natural world with a variety of unique programming, including adventure and learning facilities on a 26-acre island in Casco Bay, Maine. We were hired to assist with strategic planning efforts including stakeholder input gathering and a series of facilitated Board and Committee meetings.
Saco, City of (2014-2015)
The southern Maine city of Saco (pop. 18,500) engaged the entire community in an effort to create a collective vision for what Saco will be in 2025. We worked with Pamela Plumb & Associates to facilitate and document a series of community input and City staff meetings to help Saco plan for the future.
Sacopee Valley Health Center (2015)
Building on our past work with the Sacopee Valley Health Center in Porter, Maine, we were hired to conduct a staff survey among the Health Center’s nearly 50 employees. Results from the survey will be used to help plan future staff and board retreats and to consider future changes at the Health Center.

The University of Maine received a National Science Foundation grant to establish the SEANET (Sustainable Ecological Aquaculture Network) program in Maine. Over five years SEANET is conducting multi-institutional, transdisciplinary research on how aquaculture can fit into the landscape, ecosystem, and economies of Maine’s working waterfront communities. We were hired to plan, facilitate, and provide a complete report of a two-day strategic planning session among the management team and other project stakeholders.
Sebago Technics (2015)
Sebago Technics is a Maine-based employee-owned company providing civil engineering, landscape architecture, land surveying, site planning, and environmental services for public and private clients. We facilitated a meeting to help design a strategic planning process for the company.
South Portland City Council (2015)
The City Council of South Portland, Maine, hired us to facilitate a Council goal-setting workshop. South Portland is an oceanfront city with population of 25,000, a community college, and diverse commercial and residential neighborhoods.

Knightville is a residential and business neighborhood in the City of South Portland, Maine. We were hired to help plan, facilitate, and document a meeting to discuss parking and traffic patterns in the neighborhood.
Teens to Trails (2015)
Teens to Trails is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing opportunities for Maine teens to experience the outdoors, and working to support high school Outing Clubs across the State. We were hired to plan and facilitate a special Board Retreat to help develop a work plan for the future. The retreat was held at the Flagstaff Hut in Carrabassett Valley – we skied in with our projector, screen, and meeting supplies!
The Nature Conservancy – New Hampshire Chapter (2015)
The Nature Conservancy has helped protect more than 270,000 acres of ecologically significant land in New Hampshire and currently owns and manages 28 preserves across the state. We were hired to facilitate a strategic planning process for The Nature Conservancy’s New Hampshire Chapter that included a series of staff and trustee meetings to assess the organization’s situation and establish a strategic direction.
The Progress Center (2015)
Based in Norway, Maine, The Progress Center promotes independence and freedom of choice for hundreds of children, families and adults who experience disabilities. We were hired to facilitate an interactive session on workplace culture at the Progress Center’s annual staff retreat.
United Way of Androscoggin County (2015)
United Way of Androscoggin County advances the common good in the greater Lewiston-Auburn, Maine region by helping provide access to education, financial stability, and health services. We were hired to help plan and facilitate a retreat for members of the Board and Senior Staff.
