Aquaculture Research Institute at the University of Maine (2018)

Aquaculture Research Institute at the University of Maine brings together researchers and faculty from multiple disciplines to enable UMaine’s aquaculture research portfolio to embrace the entire innovation development pipeline. We were hired to facilitate two strategic planning retreats.

Arts Are Elementary (2011)

Since 1980, Arts Are Elementary (AAE) has brought visual artists, writers and performers into the Brunswick elementary schools, reaching all children in grades one through five with fun, inspiring models and opportunities for creative expression. We were hired to facilitate a half-day meeting to help the organization make decisions about its future. Leigh Tillman served as lead facilitator.

Bates College (2011)

Bates College is a nationally renowned college of liberal arts in Lewiston, Maine. Craig Freshley was asked to facilitate a 3-hour Facilitative Leadership training session at a retreat for college Department and Program Chairs.

Bates College – Gulf of Maine Field Research Stations (2015)

Bates College, in collaboration with the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership, has received a National Science Foundation grant to coordinate the efforts of Field Research Stations around the Gulf of Maine. At an overnight meeting on Hurricane Island in Penobscot Bay, we helped the group prioritize research needs and coordinate their efforts.

Bates College Athletic Department (2015)

Bates is a liberal arts college in Lewiston, Maine. The college’s Department of Athletics and Physical Education provides gender-equitable athletic opportunities that enhance the overall liberal arts undergraduate experience. We were hired to facilitate a retreat among Department staff to identify core program strengths and develop a vision for athletic programming’s contribution to the college over the next 5 – 10 years.

Bates College Institute for Climate Adaptation and Resilience (2019)

The Bates College Institute for Climate Adaptation and Resilience (ICAR) equips students, facilitates partnerships and changes culture to positively address climate change. To assist ICAR in achieving its goals we were hired to facilitate a strategic planning meeting.

 

 

Blue Sky Funders Forum (2013-2014)

Convened and administered by NAAEE (North American Association for Environmental Education), the Blue Sky Funders Forum is a national group of charitable foundations, corporate foundations, and government grantmakers who have formed an alliance to advance environmental education. Craig facilitated a series of meetings to help the group get organized and establish initial priorities.

Bowdoin College (2008-Fall)

Bowdoin College is a nationally renowned college of liberal arts and science in Brunswick, Maine. We were hired by Bowdoin to work with staff of an administrative office to improve communications and team effectiveness. We conducted advance interviews with all staff within that office, facilitated a half-day retreat and prepared a summary report.

Bowdoin College (2008-Spring)

Bowdoin College is a nationally renowned college of liberal arts and science in Brunswick, Maine. We were hired to conduct a professional development luncheon among all the Student Affairs staff of Bowdoin. We reviewed basic mediation principles and discussed specific case studies.

Bowdoin College (2010)

Bowdoin is a nationally renowned college of liberal arts and science in Brunswick, Maine. We were hired by the Student Activities Office to facilitate a full-day staff retreat.

Bowdoin College (2019)

The McKeen Center for the Common Good at Bowdoin College provides students with opportunities to contribute to the world around us through creative and artistic work, discussion and dialogue, public service, volunteering, and reflective engagement in coursework and fellowships. We facilitated a student training session as part of the “Leading for the Common Good” program.

Breakwater School (2007)

The Breakwater School is an independent pre-school and elementary school located in Portland, Maine. Founded in 1956, Breakwater is private, non-denominational, and co-educational. They hired us to facilitate a short series of meetings among the board, parents, and faculty.

Brunswick School Building Committee (2007)

The Elementary School Building Committee was charged by the Town Council to develop recommendations on the location and design of a new elementary school. We were hired by the Brunswick Office of Superintendent of Schools to facilitate meetings of the Committee and prepare summary reports of each meeting.

Brunswick School Department (2015)

The Brunswick, Maine School Department hired us to facilitate a series of community input meetings and prepare a draft strategic plan to help chart the future of the Brunswick schools.

Cheverus High School (2018)

We facilitated a back-to-school professional development workshop for faculty and staff on communications.

 

CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) (2007)

Having recently moved from Boston to Portland, CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) is the leading U.S. non-governmental international education organization. CIEE creates and administers programs that allow high school and university students and educators to study and teach abroad. CIEE management hired us to facilitate a multi-day retreat among regional directors from all over the country at a camp-on-a-lake setting. We worked through many issues, made several decisions and did some fun, team-building exercises.

We were hired to deliver a workshop on conflict prevention, management, and resolution to staff members who provide support to foreign high school students visiting the United States and their host families.

CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) (Winter 2016)

The Council on International Educational Exchange offers a Global High School program to facilitate international exchange among young people. Craig was hired to plan and facilitate a workshop on innovation for the High School staff at a CIEE retreat in Kona, Hawaii.

CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) Work & Travel USA Program (2012)

The CIEE Work & Travel USA Program supports more than 10,000 students to find jobs across the U.S. every year. We were hired to facilitate a training session and discussion among staff from various departments to help clarify roles and protocols.

CIEE Support Team (2017)

Based in Portland, Maine, the CIEE Support Team helps CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange)’s students, host families, and local coordinators have a safe and smooth experience during CIEE’s programs. We were hired to facilitate a meeting for members of the Support Team to discuss and develop a mission statement for their department.

Colby College Office of Communications (2016)

Colby College is a liberal arts college serving 2000 undergraduates in Waterville, Maine. We were hired to plan and facilitate a staff retreat for the Office of Communications to strengthen teamwork and develop guiding principles and specific strategies to be more efficient and effective.

Educate Maine (2012)

Educate Maine, created by the merger of the Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education and the Maine Compact for Higher Education, champions increased education attainment and college and career readiness. We were hired to facilitate a board retreat to discuss key education challenges and opportunities and make plans for the organization’s top strategic objectives. We also conducted interviews with individual board members and prepared a brief report in advance of the meeting.

Educate Maine CS-IT Initiative (2012)

The Educate Maine Computer Science and Information Technology Initiative (CS-IT) is a statewide effort to double the number of computer science Bachelors degree graduates between now and 2016. Business leaders have gathered into seven teams to work on various projects in support of this goal. We were hired to facilitate a meeting among all seven teams in order to coordinate their efforts.

Educatius (2018)

Educatius facilitates international academic exchange for high school and university students. Craig was hired to lead sessions on leadership and teamwork at their annual training conference for Regional Managers and Local Coordinators, held in 2018 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Environmental Education Funders Collaborative (2013)

The Environmental Education Funders Collaborative (EEFC) is an informal collaborative of funders in the San Francisco Bay Area that develops avenues for sharing and partnering with the many stakeholders in the field of environmental and science education. We were hired to plan and facilitate a full-day conference of environmental educators and funders in San Francisco, CA.

Fryeburg Academy (2014-2015)

Founded in 1792, Fryeburg Academy is a private college preparatory school in western Maine serving local and international students. We were hired to help plan and facilitate a strategic planning process. As part of the process we gathered stakeholder input and facilitated a series of committee meetings.

Herring Gut Learning Center (2011)

Herring Gut Learning Center is dedicated to educating students, teachers and the public about Maine’s marine resources through aquaculture, environmental studies and research opportunities. We were hired to interview each member of the board, prepare a report of findings, and lead a board discussion about the Center’s future. We also prepared a complete report of the board discussion.

Ipswich Public Schools (2013)

We were hired to work with the the superintendent, principals, assistant principals, and business managers of the Ipswich (MA) Public Schools to help identify issues and establish roles and responsibilities for this site-based management school district of about 2000 students.

Kieve Veterans Camp (2011)

Kieve-WavusEducation, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising the aspirations of young people through summer camp programs in Maine. For the past few years, Kieve-Wavus has offered veterans a stress-free weeklong program called Veterans’ Family Camp. The Board and Staff hired us to facilitate a retreat to discuss and decide the future strategic direction of this valuable program. We also prepared a complete report of the meeting.

Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. (2005)

This newly formed organization, a merger of Camp Kieve and Wavus Camps, held its first board meeting over two days on the shores of Damariscotta Lake. We were hired to plan the agenda, facilitate the meetings, and prepare meeting reports.

Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. (2006-Fall)

As they did six months ago, the board of directors of Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. asked us to facilitate their full day board meeting. We also prepared a detailed meeting report.

Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. (2006-Spring)

Again, we facilitated the annual meeting of the Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. Trustees on the shores of Damariscotta Lake.

Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. (2011-2012)

Kieve-Wavus offers summer camps on the shores of beautiful Damariscotta Lake in Nobleboro and year-round experiential programs for youth and adults in Maine and beyond. We were hired to facilitate a process to develop a long-range plan for the camps and programs, including a survey of board and staff and a facilitated 2-day retreat. We also prepared a report of findings from the survey, a report of the retreat, and a draft long-range plan.

Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. (2013-2014)

Kieve-Wavus offers leadership development programs for youth and adults and summer camps for girls and boys on Damariscotta Lake in Nobleboro, Maine. We worked with board members and leaders of the Wavus Camp for Girls to help them plan new programming.

We were hired to facilitate a meeting among the leadership staff to plan for the future of Kieve-Wavus. We also prepared a complete report of the meeting.

L/A Arts (2010)

L/A Arts increases awareness, appreciation and support of the arts in the Lewiston-Auburn area by offering programs in education, performance and community service. We were hired to facilitate a full day retreat of the staff and board focused on strategic planning.

Laudholm Trust and Wells Reserve (2013-2014)

Located in Wells, Maine, The Wells Reserve and the Laudholm Trust are two organizations working in partnership to support a National Estuarine Research Reserve (including 2,250 acres of coastal habitat) and a large historic saltwater farm (listed in the National Register of Historic Places). Together they conduct research, education, stewardship, and community building. We were hired to help plan and facilitate a Future Planning process to address general strategic direction around visibility, sustainability, roles, and deliberate partnerships. As part of the process we gathered stakeholder input, facilitated a series of meetings, and prepared a draft plan.

Leominster High School (2005)

Senior administrative staff of this 1800-student High School in Massachusetts came for a weekend retreat to Camp Kieve on the shores of Damariscotta Lake. They are organizing into five distinct “small schools” and thus needed to work out many details about how the five headmasters will work collaboratively and independently. We facilitated the meeting and wrote the meeting report; a documentation of their new agreements. The Kieve team-building staff also helped them build trust and improve communication skills, making full use of Kieve’s “outdoor classrooms.”

Lewiston High School (2018)

Lewiston High School serves 1300 students in Lewiston, Maine. We were hired to facilitate a meeting of the Lewiston High School Management Team to help establish a vision and mission for the team.

Lewiston Public Library (2014)

The Lewiston Public Library is over 100 years old and provides books, periodicals, archives, research services, public computers, events, programs, and many other community services all in a lovely downtown building in Lewiston, Maine. We were hired to facilitate a staff retreat to build teamwork and plan how to best serve the community in the future.

Lewiston Public Schools (2014)

The Lewiston Public Schools serve nearly 5,000 students in nine community schools in the city of Lewiston, Maine (population about 35,000). We were hired to facilitate a workshop among school committee members and school department directors and managers to build shared understanding and general consensus on how to handle student discipline issues. We also provided a complete report of the workshop.

Lewiston Public Schools (2016)

The Lewiston Public Schools serve nearly 5,000 students in nine community schools in Maine’s second-largest city. We were hired to facilitate a dynamic, interactive public forum for parents and community members to understand the schools’ near-term plans and give input on proposed vision and goal statements. We also provided a Complete Report.

Lewiston Public Schools (2017)

The Lewiston Public Schools serve over 5,000 students in Lewiston, Maine. We were hired to plan and facilitate a public forum focused on understanding how students and community members are using social media and what individuals, the schools, and the community can do to prevent bullying and misuse. We also provided notes of the forum to serve as the basis for new school guidance on social media.

Lincoln Academy and Kieve-Wavus Collaboration (2010)

Lincoln Academy, an independent secondary school in Newcastle, Maine, and Kieve-Wavus, an 85-year old experiential education and leadership organization in Nobleboro, Maine, have established a Task Force to explore possibilities for an educational collaboration. To help ensure a fair and efficient process, we were hired to facilitate the work of the Task Force.

Machias School District and SAD #37 (2007 & 2008)

We were hired by two Maine school districts, the Machias School District and School Administrative District #37, to facilitate a series of meetings and try to broker an agreement to jointly govern a regional High School.

Maine Adult Education Association (2017)

The Maine Adult Education Association advocates for adult education and supports its members in order to meet the educational needs of Maine’s adults. We were hired to facilitate a day-long interactive workshop to help the state’s regional Adult Education Hubs make decisions about governance and administration going forward. We also prepared a complete report of the workshop.

Maine Assembly on School-Based Health Care (2006)

On beautiful Mount Desert Island we spent a day with the board of directors of the Maine Assembly on School-Based Health Care. We helped the group decide their strategic priorities for the next five years and create a vision for school-based health centers, literally, on a huge 4’x8’ piece of paper!

Maine Assembly on School-based Health Care (2007)

The goal of the Maine Assembly on School-based Health Care (MeASBHC) is to improve children’s success by keeping them healthy, in school and ready to learn. MeASBHC supports the development and operations of school based health care services to accomplish this goal. We have worked with them before and they recently hired us again to help them survey stakeholders and finalize their strategic plan.

Maine Coast Waldorf School (2015)

Located in Freeport and New Gloucester, the Maine Coast Waldorf School (formerly known as Merriconeag) is Maine’s largest Waldorf school, offering pre-K through high school education to almost 300 students. We were hired to facilitate an evening of discussion among parents and teachers of fifth grade students.

Maine Coast Waldorf School (2019)

Located in Freeport, the Maine Coast Waldorf School serves some 285 students from early childhood through high school. We were hired to facilitate a Faculty-Board Retreat about governance and decision making.

Maine College of Art (2015)

Located in downtown Portland, the Maine College of Art educates artists for life. We were hired to plan and facilitate a two-day retreat of members of the College’s Board of Trustees and Senior Staff. We also prepared a complete report.

Maine College of Art – Zero-Based Planning (2015)

Located in downtown Portland, the Maine College of Art educates artists for life. We were hired to facilitate a “zero-based planning” session among members of the College’s Board of Trustees and Senior Staff, to help creatively design the ideal art college to meet the needs of future artists.

Maine Cybersecurity Cluster (2017)

The Maine Cybersecurity Cluster (MCSC) is an academic and research center bringing together government, industry, and academia dedicated to workforce and economic development in the field of cyber security. We were hired to plan and facilitate a “Visioneering Workshop” to bring together academic, government, business leaders, and cybersecurity practitioners to generate ideas and potential solutions for addressing the cybersecurity vision and applied research growth opportunities for NASA, Maine, and the greater New England Region. The Visioneering Workshop was held in 2017, held in conjunction with the statewide Partners in Cybersecurity Summit in Portland Maine.

Maine Maritime Academy (2012)

Maine Maritime Academy is a small public college of engineering, management, science, and transportation located in Castine on the coast of Maine. We were hired by the Corning School for Ocean Studies at Maine Maritime Academy to help the faculty identify future changes to the curriculum.

For the second time we were hired by Maine Maritime Academy to facilitate a meeting of the faculty of the Corning School of Ocean Studies in order to identify and advance programmatic goals.

Maine School Administrative District #75 (2019)

Maine School Administrative District #75 operates six elementary schools, one middle school and one high school in Cumberland and Sagadahoc Counties. The district has 266 teachers serving 3,444 students. We have been hired to facilitate an interactive School Board Workshop.

Maine School Garden Network (2012)

The Maine School Garden Network (MSGN) is a group of committed individuals who promote and support educational gardens for youth and encourage school programs that teach healthy eating and environmental stewardship. We were hired to help plan and facilitate a full-day meeting, comprised of a broad stakeholder input discussion in the morning followed by a MSGN Advisory Board meeting in the afternoon where board members reflected on input received and made decisions about MSGN’s future. We also prepared complete reports of both meetings. Leigh Tillman assisted with this project.

Maine Sea Grant (2011)

Based at the University of Maine, Maine Sea Grant is part of a network of Sea Grant programs throughout the coastal and Great Lakes states, sponsoring scientific research and marine workforce development focused on Maine’s coastal communities. We were hired to facilitate a team building and strategic planning staff retreat.

MEA Benefits Trust (2010)

The MEA Benefits Trust administers health insurance and other benefits for MaineEducationAssociation. We have been hired to facilitate a full day retreat of the Board of Trustees to work on strategic planning and related issues. We are also conducting advance interviews with each of the trustees.

Merriconeag Waldorf School (2005-2009)

In various capacities, including volunteer Board Chair, Craig has served as a consultant to the Merriconeag Waldorf School parents, faculty, and board members on issues including the school’s overall growth and development and specific projects.

Merriconeag Waldorf School (2010)

Located in Freeport, Merriconeag is Maine’s largest Waldorf school, offering pre-K through high school education to almost 300 students. We were hired to work with teachers and parents on organizational development issues.

Muskie School of Public Service (2014)

Part of the University of Southern Maine, the nationally-recognized Muskie School of Public Service offers programs in geography-anthropology, community planning and development, public health, and public policy and management, and is home to the Cutler Institute for Health and Social Policy. We were hired to help plan and facilitate a meeting series among faculty leaders, student leaders, and Cutler Institute program leaders, to establish a strategic direction for the school’s academic and research programs.

Muskie School of Public Service (2017-2018)

The Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine is Maine’s public policy school, delivering programs that educate leaders, inform policy and practice, and strengthen civic life. We were hired to plan and facilitate a strategic planning process for the Muskie School. The process included stakeholder interviews, a series of input meetings among faculty, board, chairs, directors, and others, and preparation of a draft strategic plan.

NatureBridge (2014-2015)

NatureBridge provides experiential field science programs in our national parks and works to make environmental education a national priority. NatureBridge also convenes the National Park Education Partners, a group working to ensure that students can experience national parks as places of learning. We facilitated and documented a series of conference calls among the interim steering committee for the Partners.

NatureBridge (Spring 2014)

NatureBridge provides thousands of young people with experiential field science programs in our national parks and works to make environmental education a national priority. NatureBridge convened a meeting of the National Park Education Partners in Washington, DC, to discuss efforts to ensure that students can experience national parks as places of learning. Craig helped to plan and facilitate the meeting.

North American Association for Environmental Education (2012-2014)

The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) supports environmental educators with professional development, guidelines for excellence, networking, and advocacy. Craig helped facilitate a NAAEE strategic planning process that involved multiple meetings in Washington D.C. and San Francisco and phone interviews with thought leaders throughout the country.

North American Association for Environmental Education (Fall 2012)

We were hired to help plan and facilitate the three-day annual conference of the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) in Oakland, California. We also helped plan and facilitate a special Funders Forum of about 100 organizations that invest in environmental education. NAAEE supports environmental educators in the US, Canada, and Mexico with professional development, guidelines for excellence, networking, and advocacy.

North American Association for Environmental Education (Spring 2012)

We were hired to offer a training session on Advanced Facilitation at the five-day National Training Workshop of the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) in Washington, DC. NAAEE supports environmental educators in the US, Canada, and Mexico with professional development, guidelines for excellence, networking, and advocacy.

Owls Head Transportation Museum (2019)

The Owls Head Transportation Museum is a nonprofit educational organization which collects, preserves, exhibits and operates pre-1940 aircraft, ground vehicles, engines and related technologies significant to the evolution of transportation for the purpose of education. We are working with the Board and Senior Staff, helping them develop a strategic plan.

Pentucket Regional School District (2008)

The Pentucket Regional School District, serving the towns of Groveland, Merrimac and West Newbury, Massachusetts, hired us to facilitate a four-hour meeting of the school committee where we developed annual priorities and operating guidelines. In addition, they hired us to work with the administrative team consisting of the superintendent and six principals, to refine roles and responsibilities.

Portland Public Schools (2004)

The Portland Partnership hired us to work with teachers and administrators of Adams Elementary School to improve meeting efficiency.

Portland Symphony Orchestra (2008)

The Portland Symphony Orchestra recognizes and takes seriously its role as a leading community educator about orchestral music. To be most effective, the orchestra wanted to nurture collaborative relationships with music educators and organizational partners from throughout the community. We were hired to facilitate a Music Educators and Organizational Partners Forum to brainstorm and prioritize ideas.

Providence Service Corporation of Maine (2010)

Providence Service Corporation of Maine, also known as Providence of Maine, is an organization specializing in nonresidential community-based services. We were hired to facilitate a focus group discussion among high school educators to explore potential opportunities for collaboration in light of new federal funding.

Regional School Unit (RSU) 13 (2015)

RSU 13 serves approximately 2100 students from the municipalities of Cushing, Owls Head, Rockland, Saint George, South Thomaston, and Thomaston, Maine. We were hired to facilitate a meeting of the School Board to discuss plans for the future.

Regional School Unit (RSU) 13 – Rockland (2019)

RSU 13 serves students from the municipalities of Cushing, Owls Head, Rockland, Saint George, South Thomaston, and Thomaston, Maine. We were hired to facilitate a School Board Strategic Planning Meeting.

Regional School Unit (RSU) 16 (2012-2013)

RSU 16 encompasses the towns of Mechanic Falls, Minot, and Poland, Maine. We were hired to plan and facilitate a public input and strategic planning process to help guide RSU 16 education planning and build community among citizens, parents, students, teachers, town leaders, and the school board. We conducted two surveys, facilitated a series of input gathering meetings, and prepared a Report of Findings. We also facilitated a series of school board workshops and prepared a Draft Strategic Plan based on the results of the process.

Regional School Unit (RSU) 16 (2014)

RSU 16 encompasses the towns of Mechanic Falls, Minot, and Poland, Maine. Building on our prior work with RSU 16, we were hired to facilitate a school board committee meeting to review progress on the district’s strategic plan and update strategies and objectives for the the future.

Regional School Unit 18 – Messalonskee School District (2010)

Faced with projected multi-year budget constraints, this central Maine school district hired us to facilitate a large public input meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to explain the situation, and gather public comment on potential closures and/or reorganization of buildings and schools.

Regional School Unit 24 (2009)

The brand-new school board for RSU 24 hired us to facilitate a kick-off retreat. Given the recent consolidation of three school districts (Ellsworth; School Union 92, which includes Lamoine, Hancock, Mariaville, Eastbrook, and Waltham; and School Union 96, which includes Franklin, Gouldsboro, Sorrento, Steuben, Sullivan and Winter Harbor) into one, the board wanted to get off on the right foot. We discussed everything from how board members interact with each other to initial goals for the new district. After the meeting, we prepared a report.

Rippleffect (2015)

Rippleffect promotes youth development and leadership and connects students to the natural world with a variety of unique programming, including adventure and learning facilities on a 26-acre island in Casco Bay, Maine. We were hired to assist with strategic planning efforts including stakeholder input gathering and a series of facilitated Board and Committee meetings.

Saratoga Springs Public Library (2016)

The Saratoga Springs Public Library in historic Saratoga Springs, New York, has a staff of over 100 serving the local school district and 500,000 visitors per year. We were hired to plan and facilitate a full-day staff retreat to develop a shared vision for the future of the library and do some fun team building activities. We also prepared a Complete Report of the retreat.

School Administrative District #37 (2007 & 2008)

We were hired by two Maine school districts, the Machias School District and School Administrative District #37, to facilitate a series of meetings and try to broker an agreement to jointly govern a regional High School.

School Union 52 (2005)

The town of Winslow, Maine has aging public schools and needed to make some hard decisions about which to close and how to consolidate. The School Committee convened a large public forum to present four potential options and provide townspeople a chance to ask questions and make comments. Hired by School Union 52 (Winslow, China, Vassalboro), we facilitated the discussion, administered a straw poll during the meeting, and wrote a report which included a summmary of all the questions and comments.

SEANET (2014-2015)

The University of Maine received a National Science Foundation grant to establish the SEANET (Sustainable Ecological Aquaculture Network) program in Maine. Over five years SEANET is conducting multi-institutional, transdisciplinary research on how aquaculture can fit into the landscape, ecosystem, and economies of Maine’s working waterfront communities. We were hired to plan, facilitate, and provide a complete report of a two-day strategic planning session among the management team and other project stakeholders.

Southwest Harbor Public Library (2018)

Since 1895 the Southwest Harbor Public Library on beautiful Mount Desert Island, Maine, has provided a place for the community to explore new ideas and pursue lifelong learning interests. We were hired to facilitate a board and staff retreat.

The Chewonki Foundation (2010)

Headquartered on the shores of Montsweag Bay in Wiscasset, Chewonki is an environmental education organization offering boys’ and girls’ camps, travelling natural history programs, wilderness trips and workshops, and a residential academic semester program. We were hired to faciliate a two-day strategic planning retreat among the Board of Trustees, Advisors to the Board and selected staff. As part of this work, we also gathered advance input through an online survey and staff listening sessions.

The Community School (2010)

Having hired us in the past to help draft a concept paper for future programming, The Community School retained us to help further plan program development via a series of meetings with the Board’s Executive Committee and senior staff.

The Ecology School (2018)

Based on Ferry Beach in Saco, Maine, since 1998, The Ecology School has brought innovative ecology education programs to over 170,000 students through field trips, school science curriculums, and overnight and day camps. As the School was preparing to transition to a new site at River Bend Farm, we were hired to facilitate a public information and input meeting regarding River Bend Farm.

The University of New England (2019)

The University of New England is Maine’s largest private university, with three campuses—in Biddeford and Portland, Maine, and in Tangier, Morocco.  We were hired to facilitate a department retreat.

Unity College (2017-2018)

Unity College is a private, liberal arts, sustainability science-based college with an environmental focus, located in Unity, Maine. We were hired to plan and facilitate a full day retreat among members of Unity College’s Leadership Team. We also prepared a complete report and provide additional consulting services.

University of Maine at Augusta (2019-2020)

University of Maine at Augusta is the third largest public university in Maine. In addition to its main campus in Augusta, UMA also serves students at its campus in Bangor (UMA Bangor) and through UMA Centers around the state. We have been hired to provide facilitation services for a training session.

University of Maine Cooperative Extension (2012)

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension hired us to plan and facilitate two meetings to help Cooperative Extension organize their SNAP-Ed program: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance ProgramEducation, which helps low-income individuals make healthy food choices. Leigh Tillman served as lead facilitator.

University of Maine Cooperative Extension (2013)

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension puts university research to work in homes, businesses, farms, and communities throughout Maine, providing education and practical solutions for agriculture, natural resources, economic opportunity, and lifelong wellness. Craig has been hired to facilitate three sessions at the two-day Annual Organizational meeting for Cooperative Extension staff. Topics will cover strategic planning and practical ideas for handling challenges in group situations.

University of Maine Cooperative Extension (2018)

We were hired to facilitate a training workshop for Department Chairs and Directors at the University of Maine at Orono, the flagship campus of Maine’s state university system, founded in 1865. The purpose of the workshop was to build shared understanding of department-level strategic planning benefits and challenges.

University of Maine Paper Surface Science Program (2013)

The Paper Surface Science Program at the University of Maine seeks to develop knowledge about paper surface treatment processes and structure-performance relationships. The Program trains graduate students in performing scientific research on projects of value to sponsoring industries. We were hired to help plan and facilitate a meeting among key stakeholders to develop goals and plans for the future of the program. We also prepared a complete report of the meeting.

University of New England (2008)

The Colleges of Arts and Sciences at the University of New England hired us to work on organizational issues within a particular department. Our work involved individual interviews followed by a full-day retreat.

University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (2011)

Founded in 1978, with campuses in Portland and Biddeford, the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine trains students to become osteopathic physicians. The Dean of the College convened a conclave among all the faculty to discuss the future of the College. We were hired to facilitate and provide a complete report of the conclave. In addition to discussing strategic issues we also did some team building.

University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (2017-2018)

In Portland and Biddeford, Maine, the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine trains students to become osteopathic physicians. To prepare for a University-wide strategic planning effort, the College of Osteopathic Medicine hired us to facilitate a series of department workshops and a leadership team retreat to discuss communications, workflow, and other topics.

Westbrook School Department (2009-2010)

The Westbrook School Department hired us to help develop a strategic plan. Working with the school board and the newly-appointed superintendent over a six-month period, we managed a process that included substantial community input, such as focus group meetings and a community-wide survey.

Yarmouth School Committee (2017)

The Yarmouth School Department serves about 1,500 students in the coastal town of Yarmouth, Maine. We were hired to facilitate a Yarmouth School Committee workshop on board development.
